Unitree G1 Review Summary
The G1 is the humanoid that made the category affordable to laboratories and developers. For USD 13,500 the standard version offers a compact body that folds for transport, a 3D LiDAR and depth camera, and a battery that lasts about two hours. It is not an industrial worker: each arm lifts about 2 kg, and the standard version does not allow users to develop their own software. For research and development the G1 EDU adds joints, torque, computing options and development access, at a price given only on request.
Pros
Low price for a humanoid robot
Compact and foldable
3D LiDAR and depth camera as standard
Quick-release battery
EDU version with up to 43 degrees of freedom
Cons
No development access on the standard version
Arm load of about 2 kg
About 2 hours of battery life
Shorter warranty on the standard version
Who It Is For
The G1 fits universities, research laboratories and companies that want a humanoid platform at moderate cost; those who plan to program it should choose the G1 EDU.
