LMI Gocator 4000 Review Summary

Sensors that view the surface at an angle leave shadows beside tall or steep features. The Gocator 4000 sends and receives light along the same axis, so it sees into holes and beside steps and measures slopes of up to 85 degrees. Lateral resolution reaches 1.8 µm, finer than any other Gocator line, at rates of up to 36 kHz. The field of view is tiny, 3.45 mm or 5 mm, and the sensor weighs about 10 kg. This is a tool for semiconductor packages and miniature electronics.

Pros

  • Shadow-free coaxial measurement

  • X resolution from 1.8 µm

  • Slopes up to 85 degrees

  • Scan rates up to 36 kHz

  • Measurement inside the sensor

Cons

  • Field of view of 3.45 or 5 mm only

  • About 10 kg

  • Short clearance distance

Who It Is For

The series fits semiconductor and electronics manufacturers who must measure steep, deep or mirror-like micro-features inline.
