LMI Gocator 3500 Review Summary

Laser profilers need the part or the sensor to move. A snapshot sensor does not: it projects structured light and captures a whole area in 3D while the part stands still, which suits stop-and-go lines and robots that pause over a feature. The 3500 series does this at metrology level, with two cameras to reduce hidden areas and accuracy from 12 µm on the small 3506. The rate of 6 Hz requires a PC or LMI's GoMax NX accelerator.

Pros

  • Full-area 3D without motion

  • 5-megapixel stereo camera

  • Accuracy from 12 µm

  • Suitable for robot mounting

  • Measurement tools from the Gocator family

Cons

  • 6 Hz requires a PC or accelerator

  • Only two models

Who It Is For

The series fits manufacturers who inspect stationary parts or use a robot to bring the sensor to several features on an assembly.
