Harmonic Drive FHA-C, PR and H Hollow-Shaft Actuators

Harmonic Drive FHA-C combines strain-wave reduction, a brushless servomotor, output support and motor feedback in a low-profile hollow-shaft actuator. The standard, PR and high-voltage H configurations have different ordering options and performance data. These versions use an external servo drive; the actuator’s hollow bore and gear ratio do not establish the drive interface or a complete safety-rated robot joint.
Key Specifications
Frame families | 17 / 25 / 32 / 40; external servo drive required |
Standard and PR ratio menu | 50 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 160 in current ordering tables; exact configuration applies |
H ratio menu | 50 / 100 / 160 in the high-voltage ordering table |
Standard / PR motor feedback | US250 or E250 incremental encoder options; 2500 pulses per motor revolution with different wiring arrangements |
H winding and feedback | H denotes 680 VDC winding/bus class for a matched servo system; EnDat and HIPERFACE options depend on full code |
Protection choice | H ordering table: standard IP44, P option IP65; H alone does not identify an IP65 unit |
PR size 17, ratio 100 example | 57 Nm maximum torque; 48 rpm maximum output speed; 40 arcsec one-way accuracy; ±5 arcsec one-way and 30 arcsec bidirectional repeatability entries |
H size 17, ratio 50 example | 15 Nm continuous; 39 Nm maximum; 96 rpm maximum output speed |
H size 40, ratio 160 example | 400 Nm continuous; 823 Nm maximum; 22 rpm maximum output speed |
Motor-derived quadrature scale | Standard/PR tables: 500000 to 1600000 output-equivalent counts/revolution across ratios 50–160; not independent output measurement |
Brake and cable options | Full model code selects brake, feedback, cable exit and other supported options |

Applications and Industries
Consider FHA-C for robot mechanisms, machine-tool axes, packaging equipment and related OEM rotary motion where the selected hollow-shaft actuator and external drive fit the load and environment. Suitability depends on the exact model and complete machine integration, including any protection or holding requirements.
Industrial automation
Review Summary
Consider FHA-C for an OEM rotary axis that benefits from a central passage and a matched motor/reducer assembly. Choose standard, PR or H by the actual winding, feedback, positioning duty and environment. Do not transfer H-series continuous torque, a PR repeatability figure or an optional IP65 rating to every FHA-C actuator.
