Basler blaze Review Summary
Time-of-Flight measures distance by timing light, so it delivers a complete depth image at video rate with no moving parts and no projector pattern. The blaze uses Sony's DepthSense sensor and its own laser diodes to cover 0.3 to 10 m at up to 30 fps, in a sealed IP67 housing of about 10 cm. A 940 nm version is intended for daylight. Accuracy is lower than structured-light cameras, so this is a camera for volumes, obstacles and pallets, not for micron inspection.
Pros
0.3 to 10 m in one camera
30 fps depth video
IP67 housing
940 nm version for daylight
ROS and GenICam support
Cons
Lower accuracy than structured light
Sensitive to very reflective or absorbing surfaces, as with ToF in general
Who It Is For
It fits builders of logistics systems and mobile machines who need robust real-time depth over several metres.
