Basler ace 2 X visSWIR Review Summary
Short-wave infrared shows what visible light cannot: moisture, fill levels through plastic, defects under the surface of silicon, and heat from about 140 °C. SWIR cameras used to be large and cooled. The ace 2 X visSWIR puts Sony's IMX990 and IMX991 sensors, in 1.3 MP or VGA, into Basler's 29 mm housing without cooling. For exposures longer than 10 ms Basler recommends external cooling, offered as passive fins or a compressed-air cooler, and says images then remain good up to one second. Line noise reduction and real-time defect pixel correction are built in.
Pros
Visible and SWIR in one camera
29 x 29 mm housing
No built-in cooler needed for short exposures
Real-time pixel correction
Cons
External cooling advised above 10 ms exposure
Up to 1.3 MP only
Prices vary by model
Who It Is For
It fits machine builders adding SWIR inspection to sorting, semiconductor or packaging lines.
