Basler boost Review Summary
GigE and USB cameras reach their limit at roughly 20 megapixels at useful frame rates. Beyond that the data must travel over CoaXPress, and boost is Basler's line for it. Resolution runs from 2.8 to 127 megapixels and frame rates up to 400 fps, with up to 50 Gbps over four CXP-12 channels and cables of up to 40 m. Basler supplies the matching interface cards, so camera and frame grabber come from one source. A frame grabber is always required, which adds cost and a PC slot compared with GigE.
Pros
Up to 127 MP
Up to 400 fps
Up to 50 Gbps
40 m cables
Camera and interface card from one maker
Cons
Requires a frame grabber
Higher system cost than GigE or USB
Who It Is For
The series fits machine builders in electronics, display and semiconductor inspection who need more data than GigE can carry.
