Zimmer Group GED5000 Overview
The Zimmer Group GED5000 is a series of electric 3-jaw concentric grippers with a stroke of 6 mm to 10 mm per jaw and a gripping force ranging from 540 N to 1520 N across the sizes. It is designed for centric gripping of round workpieces in machine tending and assembly, with a brushless DC motor that delivers roughly the gripping force of a comparable pneumatic gripper. A mechanical self-locking mechanism holds the workpiece if power is lost, and the repetition accuracy is ±0.01 mm. The grippers weigh 1.1 kg to 2.3 kg and reach protection class IP64 with purged air. They run on 24 V and are controlled through IO-Link or digital I/O over a single cable.
