Allient PLA and PLB Parallel-Shaft DC Gearmotors

Allient PLA and PLB place the geared output parallel to the motor shaft in a compact fractional-horsepower assembly. The manufacturer describes PMDC constructions and optional brushless configurations. PLA and PLB have different voltage, ratio, torque and packaging entries; the same broad layout does not make their operating points interchangeable.
Key Specifications
PLA overview | 12 VDC; 208:1 ratio; 11 Nm; 23 rpm; configuration-specific entries |
PLB overview | 24 VDC; 17:1 or 29:1 ratios; torque entries 3.1/5.9 Nm |
PLB speed entries | 130/255 rpm; confirm corresponding selected configuration |
Motor options | PMDC as described; brushless option requires suitable electronics |
Mechanical layout | Parallel shafts; confirm offset, mounting and output geometry |
Operating point | Use one approved winding/ratio; separate family values are not freely combinable |

Review Summary
Consider this layout when an offset parallel output solves the machine envelope better than an in-line or right-angle gearmotor. Select the exact assembly from the output load and duty. Include motor technology, drive and service access rather than comparing only the largest torque figure.
