Yamaha Motor Cobot Review Summary
Yamaha chose seven axes to get close to a human arm's range of motion, so the cobot can reach into confined spaces and move around obstacles. It carries 10 kg over a 1,300 mm reach with ±0.04 mm repeatability. Every axis has a motor, reducer and high-precision torque sensor, enabling compliance control for jobs such as connector insertion and stopping on contact. A reduced-speed collaborative mode sits alongside a high-speed mode for fenced cells. The compact DC48V controller can share batteries with AGVs and AMRs.
Pros
Seven axes
Torque sensing in every joint
DC48V controller for mobile use
Field-tested in Yamaha's own factory
Cons
Safety certification in progress at launch
Floor mounting only listed
Who It Is For
It fits automotive, appliance and machining plants with confined workspaces or mobile manipulation plans.
