Yamaha Motor Cobot Review: Specs and Uses of the 7-Axis 10 kg Collaborative Robot
Updated: 7 days ago

The Yamaha Motor Cobot is Yamaha Motor's first commercially available collaborative robot, released in October 2025. The manufacturer does not publish a price. This review covers its specifications, features and uses.
Quick Verdict
Yamaha chose seven axes to get close to a human arm's range of motion, so the cobot can reach into confined spaces and move around obstacles. It carries 10 kg over a 1,300 mm reach with ±0.04 mm repeatability. Every axis has a motor, reducer and high-precision torque sensor, enabling compliance control for jobs such as connector insertion and stopping on contact. A reduced-speed collaborative mode sits alongside a high-speed mode for fenced cells. The compact DC48V controller can share batteries with AGVs and AMRs. At launch, TÜV SÜD functional safety certification was still in progress, according to Yamaha.
