Meridian Laboratory ROTOCON ERG and ERGT Rotary Grounds

Meridian Laboratory ROTOCON ERG and ERGT Rotary Grounds manufacturer product image

ROTOCON ERG and ERGT provide a high-current electrical connection between stationary and rotating parts of a process. ERG mounts at an accessible end of the assembly; ERGT offers a through bore for an over-shaft installation or central service path. Meridian Laboratory also engineers custom physical rotary grounds when a standard mounting, bore or envelope does not fit.

Key Specifications

Function

Single-contact rotating process-current connection; not an assumed protective-earth certification

End-mounted examples

ERG-400: 400 A continuous; ERG-800: 800 A continuous; mounting-specific dimensions

ERGT smaller-envelope rows

500, 1000, 1500 or 2000 A; 0.250–2.000 in specified bore; 200 rpm continuous / 400 momentary

Smaller ERGT envelope

4.55 in total length; 4.3 in outside diameter; 1/2 in-13 conductive studs

ERGT larger-bore 2000 A row

1.000–2.500 in bore; 5.187 in length; 6 in diameter; 150 rpm continuous / 300 momentary

ERGT 3000 A row

1.000 in listed bore; 6 studs; 150 rpm continuous / 300 momentary

Critical current conditions

ERGT table assumes 100% DC duty; AC has lower ampacity; all conductive studs required

Custom scope

Application-specific physical size, mounting, materials and sealing require an approved design

Applications and Industries

Rotary welding, electroplating, electropolishing, plasma cutting and rotating deposition equipment

Industrial automation

Review Summary

Consider these rotary grounds for a defined welding, plating or similar process-current path. The useful selection distinction is end access versus a through bore, followed by the exact current, connection and speed limits. In particular, the ERGT table assumes continuous DC duty, specifies lower AC ampacity and requires every conductive body stud to be used for the listed current.
