Vanderlande ADAPTO Review Summary
In a conventional shuttle system each shuttle is confined to one aisle, so a slow aisle limits output. ADAPTO shuttles are multidirectional: they cross between aisles to reach the best position on a storage layer, and extra shuttles move automatically to where more capacity is needed. Lifts, shuttles and storage aisles can each be added later, independently of the others, so storage and throughput are scaled separately. Vanderlande positions it for large inventories and same-day delivery.
Pros
Shuttles change aisles
Storage and throughput scale separately
Modular expansion
Resilient to a single shuttle fault
Cons
Large fixed investment
Who It Is For
It fits distribution centres with large inventories and growth that is hard to predict.
