Stryker Mako 4 Review Summary
Mako is the most established robot in joint replacement: Stryker reports more than 2.5 million procedures worldwide through 2025 and installations in more than 47 countries. Its method has two parts. The operation is planned on a 3D model built from the patient's CT scan, and during surgery the robotic arm lets the surgeon cut only inside the planned boundary, which Stryker calls AccuStop haptic technology. The fourth generation brings five applications onto a single system and adds the Q Guidance System with a faster camera.
Pros
Five applications on one system
More than 2.5 million procedures of experience
CT-based planning with haptic boundaries
More than 800 contributions to the scientific record, by Stryker's count
New guidance system and camera
Cons
Requires a CT scan before surgery
Works with Stryker's own implants
