Smith+Nephew CORI Surgical System Review Summary
Rather than a large floor-standing arm, CORI uses handheld robotics in a portable system with a small OR footprint. Image-agnostic smart mapping builds a 3D model of the joint during surgery, and real-time gap balancing guides implant positioning. Smith+Nephew says it is the first system indicated in the US for robotic-assisted revision knee surgery, and that newer burrs cut twice the volume and resect 29% faster than NAVIO in cadaver data, with 458% faster tracking refresh. Hip support is software-only through RI.HIP NAVIGATION.
Pros
Handheld and portable
No pre-op CT required
Revision knee indication
Hip navigation software
Cons
Hip is software only
Who It Is For
It fits orthopaedic surgeons and ambulatory centres wanting robotic knee surgery without a large footprint.
