B&R ACOPOS 6D Review Summary
ACOPOS 6D is B&R's planar levitation system. It comes in two series. Series 3 is for tight installations, with shuttles from 120 to 450 mm square carrying 0.6 to 20 kg and repeatability under 5 µm. Series 4 carries 1.8 to 40 kg on shuttles up to 600 mm, with repeatability under 10 µm. Both reach 3 m/s and 20 m/s², levitate 0.5 to 4 or 6 mm and are rated IP67. B&R states up to 69 shuttles per square metre and space savings of up to 75%. Shuttles carry no electronics. Payloads of 40 kg are far above what most planar systems offer; rotation about the vertical axis is limited to under 20 degrees.
Pros
Up to 40 kg per shuttle
3 m/s and 20 m/s²
Micrometre repeatability
IP67
No wear
Cons
Rotation about Z under 20 degrees
Levitation height of a few millimetres
High system complexity
Who It Is For
It fits machine builders needing flexible, clean transport with higher payloads than other planar systems.
