Company History
The company began in 1921 as a mechanical repair workshop. In 1956 it developed patented electromechanical limit switches, which were the start of its sensor business. The first subsidiary was founded in Austria in 1971, and work on identification systems began in the 1980s. Balluff was one of the 14 founding members of the IO-Link consortium, and it widened its range by integrating the companies SIE, STM, iss and Matrix Vision.
