SMAC Direct Drive Robotic Finger Prototype
SMAC Direct Drive Robotic Finger Prototype
SMAC demonstrated this direct-drive robotic finger at Automate 2015. The original description combines two limited-angle rotary motor functions with a moving-coil lateral joint and shows touchscreen interaction. It is a historic prototype review;the announcement’s expected 2016 release is not evidence of current commercial availability or a completed production hand.
Review Summary
Consider the design as a useful example of compact multi-joint actuation and controlled contact. Its integrated mechanics illustrate an alternative to remote transmissions, but the historic figures need to remain attached to the demonstrated geometry. They do not qualify a current gripper or a complete human-equivalent hand.
