Ocado Battery Swap Station
The Ocado Battery Swap Station uses a UR10e collaborative arm to swap grid robot batteries in under 60 seconds, charges up to 10 batteries at 12 minutes each, supports up to 100 robots and draws 32 kW at full capacity.
Instead of parking robots to charge, Ocado swaps batteries. A Universal Robots UR10e arm with a custom end effector exchanges a battery in under 60 seconds, the station charges up to ten batteries at 12 minutes each, and a fresh battery is ready about every 72 seconds. One station supports up to 100 robots, keeping them in service more than 99% of operating hours. The 10-battery unit measures 1.25 x 1.12 x 1.23 m, weighs 650 kg and draws 32 kW at full load.
