Muratec Crossbelt Sorter
The Muratec Crossbelt Sorter is a sortation system whose trays carry short conveyor belts, driven by linear induction motors with non-contact power feeding.
A crossbelt sorter places each item on a tray with its own small belt; at the destination the belt runs sideways and delivers the item into a chute. That is gentler and more reliable than tilt trays for varied packages. Muratec drives its sorter with linear induction motors and feeds power without contact, which it says gives a simple structure, long life, easy maintenance, low running costs and quiet travel. Sorting to both sides and at right angles saves space, and chutes can be added.
