Fronius CMT Advanced
Fronius CMT Advanced is a Cold Metal Transfer welding process that adds polarity reversal of the welding current to the reversing wire motion of CMT. The polarity changes during the short-circuit phase, which gives precise control of the thermal input into the workpiece. The deposition rate is up to 60% higher than with standard CMT, and gap bridging on 2 mm aluminium sheet increases from 1 mm to 2.5 mm compared with pulsed-arc welding. CMT Advanced Pulse combines negatively poled CMT cycles with positively poled pulse cycles. In a robotic welding cell the process is used for thin sheet joining and for cladding, where dilution is up to 50% lower.
