The Cyberdyne HAL Lumbar Type for Labor Support is a wearable exoskeleton that assists the lower back during lifting, weighing 3.1 kg with battery and running about 4.5 hours per charge.
The lumbar HAL is the workplace member of the HAL family. It is worn at the waist, weighs 3.1 kg including its battery and assists the hips when the wearer lifts or holds a load, at one of five assistance levels. A charge lasts about 4.5 hours and takes about two hours. The HAL-LB03 model is protected against splashing water (IPX4) and dust (IP5X), so it can be used outdoors and in dusty sites; the earlier LB01 is not.
