Company History
The company's roots lie in Vecna Technologies, founded in 1998 by Daniel Theobald. In the mid-2000s its robotics work was funded by the US Army, DARPA and other agencies to develop the BEAR robot, and in 2012 its QC Bot was piloted in hospitals to deliver medicine and food. Logistics robots became generally available in 2017, the year the team won the DHL and Dell Robotics Innovation Challenge with its Tote Retrieval System.
In 2018 Vecna Robotics was spun off as a separate company, and it later moved from Cambridge to Waltham. Early deployments included tuggers at a FedEx hub in Kernersville, North Carolina, and pallet trucks at a Milton CAT distribution center in Massachusetts.
