Unitree AlienGo robot

The Unitree AlienGo is a research quadruped robot of 21.5 kg with open software. Unitree does not list a price on the product page. This review covers its specifications, design and uses.

Quick Verdict

The AlienGo is one of Unitree's older platforms and is still listed in its industrial range. Its strength is openness: Ubuntu for motion control, ROS for perception, several power outputs and data ports, and a 13 kg payload on a 21.5 kg body. Endurance of 2.5 to 4.6 hours is good. Its limits show its age: walking speed is given as more than 1.5 m/s, the climbing angle is 25 degrees, and newer models such as the As2 and A2 exceed it in torque and speed.
