UniDrive ONE Brushless Conveyor Motor manufacturer product image

UniDrive ONE is a 24 V brushless conveyor motor intended to work with selected common industry controls through a five-pin M8 interface. Its motor body, control interface and shaft choices differ from the conventional Signature control arrangement. It is intended to simplify a defined conveyor integration, not to establish compatibility with every controller carrying an M8 connector.

Quick Verdict

Consider ONE where an existing or planned conveyor control matches the published electrical interface and is confirmed for the exact motor. The useful distinction is its analog speed, direction and fault interface. Selection still requires a loaded torque-speed check and pin-level controller compatibility rather than a plug-shape match.

Design and Engineering Assessment

The three listed motor part numbers identify real shaft differences. Keeping one mechanical motor body concept does not remove the need to select the correct D-shaft length or keyed arrangement. Record the chosen part alongside the coupling and mounting drawing.

The speed-command ranges have distinct meanings. Raising the command above 10 V does not promise an increasingly higher motor speed: the sheet identifies 10–24 V as the maximum-speed command range. The 0–2.2 V region is a braked-stop command, not a guarantee of ordinary regulated rotation down to zero rpm.

The sheet identifies a 23–28 V input range and notes that full rated torque may not be available below 23 V. Check voltage at the installed motor under load, including power-distribution losses. A supply labelled 24 V does not establish the voltage at the end of a long loaded cable.

The manufacturer provides example controls from other suppliers as a compatibility reference and expressly directs users to those suppliers’ information. That list is not a blanket endorsement, affiliation claim or approval of every later controller revision. Confirm the actual input/output behavior and mating arrangement.

Confirm the Five-Pin Electrical Interface

Check the documented motor-side pin functions against the actual cable and controller. The M8 connector shape alone does not establish matching voltage, signal polarity, pin allocation or output loading. Use the correct plug-side view when checking the drawing.

The motor’s fault signal is open collector, so the receiving circuit must suit that output and its stated electrical limits. The direction input also has defined logic regions. Agree the full interface with the control supplier rather than treating all five-pin conveyor motors as identical.

Speed Commands and Low-Speed Scope

Select the required speed within the documented operating range and test the intended controller’s command mapping. A stop command, a low-speed command and a maximum-speed command are different operating requests. Do not infer precision positioning capability from an analog speed interface.

Check starting, speed regulation and stopping with the actual conveyor load. The motor’s torque and speed entries do not establish package positioning accuracy, stopping distance or the behavior of a complete accumulation zone. Those are system acceptance criteria.

Mechanical and Thermal Integration

Allow for ONE’s published 2.5-inch body length as well as its selected shaft and connector. Do not reuse Signature’s shorter body envelope without checking the actual drawing. Include coupling access and cable routing in the installed space.

The operating-temperature statement is conditioned on mounting the motor on metal. Provide the appropriate mechanical and thermal path for the application and verify the representative repeated duty. A nominal output rating alone does not establish unrestricted operation in an enclosed hot zone.

Controller Choice and Conveyor Logic

Determine whether the chosen controller supplies basic speed and direction commands or a complete supported zero-pressure accumulation function with sensors. ONE does not make upstream/downstream zone behavior inherent in the motor itself.

The manufacturer’s compatibility examples include specific Pepperl+Fuchs, Interroll and Bihl+Wiedemann controls. Confirm the exact product revision and required mode with the responsible supplier. An external network on a control card does not become a native fieldbus port on the motor.

Commissioning and Commercial Scope

Check supply polarity, signal wiring, direction and commanded speed before loaded testing. Evaluate starting, package transfer, fault reporting, stopping and thermal behavior through the intended duty. Include the required loss-of-power behavior in the machine design.

Compare ONE with a dedicated UniDrive motor/control arrangement on the complete installation. Include compatible control hardware, cables, sensors, mounting and support. Request current commercial terms; a bearing-life calculation or an older stock statement is not a current availability guarantee.

Applications and Selection

Conveyor zones using an approved external analog-interface motor controller

For UniDrive ONE Brushless Conveyor Motor, define the actual machine duty before selecting an ordering configuration. Include the required operating point, available installation space, environment and control interfaces. The specification table describes the product or family; the surrounding machine determines which of those features matters for the intended job.

Price and Value

Price: Request a quote for the exact configuration. Compare the product, compatible control equipment, required mechanical parts, cabling and commissioning as one installed system. A component price alone does not represent the cost of a working automation axis.

Evaluate an alternative against the same duty and acceptance criteria. Match the continuous operating requirement first, then compare transient capability, feedback, mechanical fit and support. This avoids choosing between superficially similar products whose ratings describe different operating conditions.

Pros and Cons

Advantages

  • Defined analog, direction and fault interface suits supported external controls

  • Three shaft variants support different mechanical couplings

  • Externally mounted motor can provide practical service access

Limitations

  • M8 connector appearance does not establish controller compatibility

  • Braked-stop command is different from regulated low-speed or positioning capability

  • Supply voltage at the motor and mounting conditions affect usable output

UniDrive ONE Brushless Conveyor Motor FAQ

Are the three ONE part numbers duplicates?

No. 301210, 301832 and 301833 identify different shaft arrangements. Preserve the exact mechanical identity.

Can every M8 conveyor controller drive ONE?

No blanket compatibility is claimed. Confirm pinout, voltage, signal functions, electrical limits and the controller revision.

Does a speed input above 10 V keep raising speed?

The sheet defines 10–24 V as the maximum-speed command region. It is not an unlimited increasing-speed request.

What does 0–2.2 V request?

The manufacturer labels that region Stop, Braked ZMH. Do not reinterpret it as a general precision positioning or mechanical holding-brake specification.

Is full torque guaranteed below 23 V?

No. The sheet notes that full rated torque may not be available below 23 V. Check voltage at the loaded motor.

Is the body identical to Signature?

ONE’s cited body is 4.63 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches long. Use its own drawing and shaft configuration.

Does the motor itself contain every conveyor zone function?

No. The selected controller, sensors and machine logic determine the supported zone behavior.

What should accompany a quotation?

Provide motor shaft identity, controller and revision, cable and interface requirements, loaded duty, supply distribution, mounting, environment and acceptance criteria.

Prices are indicative and may change. Confirm the final configuration, commercial terms and delivery schedule before ordering.
