Design and Operating Principle

Passive compliance devices are open loop: an external pressure regulator sets air pressure and therefore force. Because gravity acts differently in each orientation, the regulator setting must change when a new orientation is programmed to keep force constant, which makes passive units best for flat or prismatic parts.

Heavier bearings suit higher loads than the AFD72.

Integration and Selection

Pair with large spindles or weld shavers and set pressure per orientation.

Use the AFD92 for the heaviest duty.
