Design and Operating Principle

Passive compliance devices are open loop: an external pressure regulator sets air pressure and therefore force. Because gravity acts differently in each orientation, the regulator setting must change when a new orientation is programmed to keep force constant, which makes passive units best for flat or prismatic parts.

A table-top version lets the robot bring the part to a fixed spindle instead of carrying the spindle.

Integration and Selection

Pair with STC1503-BT30, SM1503, STC0605-BT30 or SM0605 spindles and add a regulator.

Use the AFD82 for impact or heavier spindles.
