Niryo began in 2016 as a student project at the engineering school ISEN, led by Marc-Henri Frouin. The company was founded in 2017 and launched its first arm, Niryo One, with a Kickstarter campaign. Ned and the Niryo Academy training platform followed in 2021. In 2024 the Ned3 Pro took the technology into professional use, particularly in laboratories, and the company developed key technologies in-house with support from the French government's France 2030 program.
In 2026 Niryo launched Nate, a range of industrial robots, and acquired the medical robotics business of BizLink, including the Orion system and the Pulsar platform.
