LMI Gocator 6300 Review: Specs and Uses of the 6500-Point 3D Laser Line Profilers
Updated: 7 days ago

The LMI Gocator 6300 is a series of smart 3D laser line profilers with more than 6500 points per profile. The manufacturer does not publish prices. This review covers the models, specifications, features and uses.
Quick Verdict
The 6300 series is the highest-resolution laser profiler in the Gocator family. With more than 6500 points across a line of 14 or 31 mm, the spacing between points falls to about 2 µm, a level that used to require confocal sensors weighing ten times as much. The sensor weighs 1.7 kg. Speed at full frame is more than 1700 Hz, well below the 2500 series, so the choice between the two is resolution against speed. Only two models are offered, both with small fields of view.

Points per profile | More than 6500 | More than 6500 |
Scan rate, full field of view and range | More than 1700 Hz | More than 1800 Hz |
X profile data interval | Under 2.1 µm | Under 4.3 µm |
Repeatability Z | 0.15 µm | 0.30 µm |
Field of view | 13.4 to 14.5 mm | 28 to 31 mm |
Measurement range | 5.5 mm | 17 mm |
Clearance distance | 18.15 mm | 57.5 mm |

The X interval assumes uniform spacing is enabled. Repeatability is measured on the maker's standard target with an optimized configuration.
Design and Build Quality
LMI describes the optical design as re-engineered to combine higher speed and precision than its previous profilers. The housing is 57.5 mm thick, and at 1.7 kg the sensor can be carried by a small robot or a light gantry.
Software and Integration
Setup
A browser-based interface and an open-source SDK are used for configuration and real-time 3D visualization.
Connectivity
Native drivers and industrial protocols connect the sensor to robots, PLCs and third-party image processing.
LMI Gocator 6300 Uses
Micro-Features
Point spacing of about 2 µm resolves fine edges, gaps and solder features.
Combined 2D and 3D Inspection
LMI states that the profiles serve both 2D and 3D measurement and inspection.
Electronics Production
Small fields of view match connectors, components and small assemblies.
