Design and Operating Principle
Energy couplings mount on the upper (robot-side) and lower (tool-side) assemblies of a manual tool changer. When the tool is locked on, the coupling halves meet and the media connect at the same moment as the mechanical interface, so there are no separate plugs or hoses to connect by hand.
Check valves on the robot side close automatically when the tool side is removed, so air does not blast out and the system does not need to be vented before a change. Spring contacts tolerate small misalignments and wear.
