FerRobotics Active Belt Grinder ABG/01 product image

The FerRobotics Active Belt Grinder ABG/01 is a floor-standing, force-sensitive belt grinder with built-in active tolerance compensation, designed for integration into robot cells where the robot presents the part.

Contact force is adjustable from 10 N up to 250, 500 or 800 N depending on configuration. A mechatronic actuator with passive safety and decoupled belt tension continuously monitors force, position and contact for quality control, with Ethernet TCP/IP standard and fieldbus options.

Quick Verdict

A smart belt grinding station that brings constant-force quality to small and medium parts.

Design and Operating Principle

FerRobotics' patented Active Compliant Technology (ACT) is a pneumatic actuator with integrated sensors and fast control that keeps contact force constant regardless of robot position or part tolerances. The robot follows a nominal path while ACT compensates deviations, so programming effort drops and surface quality becomes reproducible.

Because the robot holds the part, the grinder can be heavy and powerful while the robot stays small; ACT compensates part tolerances against the belt.

Integration and Selection

Mount on a robot of suitable payload, connect power, clean dry air and extraction, and set force, speed and feed for each process step.

Program a nominal path; ACT compensates tolerances, reducing teaching effort.
