Camozzi Series CSSP Collaborative Robot Gripper Review: Specs, Price and Applications

The Camozzi Series CSSP is a self-centering, double-acting pneumatic gripper designed specifically for collaborative robots. It integrates the pneumatic control valves inside the gripper so it needs only one air input and a 24 V supply.
Size 40 offers 6 mm of stroke per jaw, operating pressure of 4 to 7 bar, positioning repeatability of 0.02 mm and IP40 protection. NC and NO versions with spring assistance, standard or customised fingers, and interfaces for ABB, Universal Robots and FANUC cobots are available.
Quick Verdict
A tidy way to put pneumatic gripping force on a cobot without external valves and messy tubing. Integrated control and ready interfaces shorten setup.

Design and Operating Principle
Pneumatic grippers are attractive on cobots because they deliver high force in a small, light package, but they usually need valves, tubing and I/O wiring. By putting the control valves inside the CSSP, Camozzi reduces the connection to a single air supply and an electrical cable.
Depending on the robot and interface, the gripper can be powered and controlled through the cobot wrist connector or from external devices such as the robot controller, an HMI or a PLC. Mechanical interfaces, connection cables and software plugins are available for selected cobot platforms.
A T-guide supports the jaws and contributes to the 0.02 mm repeatability. Spring-assisted NC and NO versions add force in one direction and help hold or release the part if air is lost.
Integration and Selection
Confirm that the 6 mm stroke per jaw suits the part width variation, and design fingers accordingly. Use the software plugin where available for teach-pendant control.
Provide clean, dry air at 4 to 7 bar and check the gripper and finger weight against the cobot payload.
