Boston Dynamics Orbit Review: Features and Uses of the Robot Fleet Software
Updated: 7 days ago

Boston Dynamics Orbit is the software that manages fleets of Boston Dynamics robots and the data they collect. The manufacturer does not publish a price. This review covers its features, deployment options and uses.
Quick Verdict
A robot that walks an inspection route is only useful if someone acts on what it finds. Orbit is where that happens. It schedules missions for Spot, stores the visual, thermal and acoustic readings, raises alerts when a value is out of range, and shows trends over time. Site View builds a visual history of a facility from 360-degree images, and inspections can be authored remotely. Orbit now also reports on Stretch unloading performance, and Boston Dynamics lists Atlas as planned. It runs in the cloud, on a rack-mounted Site Hub or as a virtual machine, and is SOC2 Type II certified. It works only with Boston Dynamics robots.
