Beckhoff XTS Review: Specs and Uses of the Linear Product Transport System
Updated: 7 days ago

The Beckhoff XTS is a transport system in which each mover on a track is driven and positioned on its own. The manufacturer does not publish a price. This review covers its specifications, features and uses.
Quick Verdict
XTS, the eXtended Transport System, turns a conveyor into a row of independent servo axes. Motor modules form straights and curves; movers with magnet plates travel along them, each with its own motion profile, so products can be grouped, spaced and synchronized with stations in software. With standard magnet plates a mover develops up to 210 N at peak, enough for masses above 10 kg, and movers can run 50 mm apart. The newer EcoLine modules are 500 mm long and lower in cost, with 75 N nominal and 168 N peak force, 0.70 mm absolute accuracy and 0.075 mm repeatability. A hygienic version is rated IP69K. The page gives no maximum speed.
