The ABICOR BINZEL ABIROB Cyclone is an air-cooled robotic MIG torch built for high-volume welding, with endless 360° rotation in either direction on axis 6.

Because rotation is decoupled from the robot, the power cable sees less torsion and movement, which ABICOR BINZEL links to longer cable life, shorter programs and cycle times and less robot downtime. A modular design simplifies service.

Quick Verdict

Removes the need to unwind axis 6, which saves cycle time on round and multi-pass welds.

Design and Operating Principle

In robotic MIG/MAG welding the torch, its mount and its consumables decide arc stability, tool centre point (TCP) accuracy and how often the cell stops. Unplanned downtime usually comes from crashes, worn contact tips, spatter build-up and cable fatigue.

A conventional torch has a hose package that winds up as axis 6 rotates, forcing the program to unwind. An endless-rotation torch transfers current and gas through a rotating interface so the wrist can keep turning.

Integration and Selection

Confirm compatibility with the torch, gun and robot already in the cell, and check whether TCP must be re-taught.

Plan maintenance intervals around tip life, reamer cycles and torch exchange so the cell keeps welding between planned stops.
