Robotiq – Robot Cell Safety and Sensing Integration Project
Company:
Robotiq
Start Date:
2021
Category:
Robot Safety
Project Description:
Robotiq provided safety sensing and industrial sensing solutions for a large automotive supplier deploying collaborative and conventional robot cells across a new production facility. Safety laser scanners define protective and warning zones around robot working areas, triggering speed reductions or stops when workers are detected in proximity. Safety light curtains guard manual loading stations integrated into automated lines. IO-Link-enabled sensors provide real-time diagnostic data to the plant's condition monitoring system, enabling early detection of sensor misalignment or contamination. The project required compliance with ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 functional safety standards and included a machine risk assessment. Sensor configuration, commissioning, and validation were performed in collaboration with the customer's safety engineering team. The result is a production environment where humans and machines share space safely while maintaining high throughput.
