KNAPP – E-Commerce Fulfillment Center AMR Fleet Deployment
Company:
KNAPP
Start Date:
2022
Category:
Warehouse Automation
Project Description:
KNAPP deployed a fleet of autonomous mobile robots inside a major e-commerce fulfillment center to automate goods movement between receiving docks, sorting zones, pick stations, and outbound conveyors. The project required integration with the facility's warehouse management system (WMS) and real-time traffic management to coordinate hundreds of robots simultaneously. The robots navigate using a combination of natural feature SLAM, QR code fiducials, and LiDAR, enabling them to operate safely around human workers. Fleet management software dynamically allocates robots to tasks based on throughput demand, battery levels, and priority orders. The deployment reduced goods-movement labor by over 60%, improved order cycle time by 35%, and cut picking errors significantly. The facility runs 20 hours per day with automatic charging schedules.
