Hirata Corporation – Palletizing Automation for Food and Beverage Producer
Company:
Hirata Corporation
Start Date:
2021
Category:
Food & Beverage Automation
Project Description:
Hirata Corporation deployed robotic palletizing systems for a large food and beverage manufacturer replacing manual end-of-line pallet stacking across multiple production lines. High-payload robot arms with custom vacuum and mechanical grippers handle cases, bags, and trays in mixed-SKU patterns according to customer-specific pallet configurations stored in the robot controller. Vision systems identify box dimensions, orientation, and barcode content to enable flexible palletizing without manual reprogramming at every product change. The system integrates with the plant's conveyor network and WMS so that pallets are built automatically to the right quantity, then transferred to stretch-wrapping and automated guided vehicles for warehouse storage. Installation required food-grade materials, easy-clean surfaces, and compliance with food safety regulations. Annual ROI payback was achieved within two and a half years.
