Galbot – General-Purpose Humanoid Platform Development
Company:
Galbot
Start Date:
2023
Category:
Humanoid Robotics
Project Description:
Galbot is developing a general-purpose humanoid robot platform designed to operate in unstructured environments including warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and eventually homes. The program focuses on combining a human-scale bipedal form factor with advanced AI models for perception, natural language understanding, and dexterous manipulation. Key engineering challenges include whole-body balance control, soft manipulation of varied objects, thermal management in the torso, and scalable actuator production. The platform uses proprietary electric linear actuators replacing hydraulics, enabling precise torque control at each joint. AI training pipelines combine teleoperation demonstrations, simulation-to-real transfer, and in-the-field reinforcement learning. Early deployments are focused on logistics and light manufacturing tasks where the humanoid can pick boxes, operate doors, and navigate human environments. Long-term vision is an affordable general-labor robot available at scale.
