Delta Electronics Industrial Automation – Flexible Manufacturing Cell Motion Control Platform

Company:

Delta Electronics Industrial Automation

Start Date:

2020

Category:

Motion Control & Factory Automation

Project Description:

Delta Electronics Industrial Automation supplied the motion control and automation control architecture for a flexible manufacturing cell at a contract manufacturer producing precision machined parts. The platform coordinates multiple robot arms, servo-driven positioning stages, conveyors, and inspection equipment through a centralized controller architecture using real-time Ethernet fieldbus communication. Engineering teams used the vendor's simulation and commissioning tools to develop and test control programs offline before installation, reducing commissioning time by approximately 30%. The control system handles synchronization of up to 32 coordinated axes with sub-millisecond cycle times required for high-speed pick-and-place operations. Condition monitoring modules continuously log drive temperatures, current, and position data, enabling predictive maintenance alerts. The cell produces multiple part families on the same equipment with automated recipe switching managed by the cell controller.
